Rowan Kennedy
Chairman, Cairnmillar Council

Rowan Kennedy recently retired as a partner of the international law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques after 37 years service to the firm. 

He is past president of the Victorian Division of the Heart Foundation and is the chairman of a charitable foundation. 

He is interested in sustainable industries, including water, natural pyrethrum and farming and is a director of a number of companies.

Ian Chisholm

Ian was appointed Managing Director of Western Staff Services (now Westaff) in February 1991.  He was previously General Manager of the Asia Pacific Region of McPherson’s Limited, Consumer Products Division where he was responsible for the Wiltshire Consolidated and Strachan Silverware Companies.  Previous to that he held senior marketing positions with Mars Confectionery of Australia, Herbert Adams (Bunge) and Petersville.

Ian has been a member of the Council of the Victorian Division of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association, (1992-1994), and Council Member of the National Association of Temporary Services, New South Wales, (1992-1993).  Appointed a Non-Executive director of Cairnmillar (1995), Ian is also a director of the Lauriston Girls School Foundation, The Career Transition Consortium (Telstra’s Career Transition Service) and Brand Value Audits P/L.  He has also been closely involved with Amcham (Chair Membership Committee, member Victorian Executive Committee), the Australian Chamber of Manufacturers, International Trade Council and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Dr Julie Shaw

Dr Julie Shawis a Psychologist with an MBA and a range of successful business publications including two books – OH&S: Best Management Practice and Cultural Diversity at Work.  She also has a new book in production focusing on the implementation of Privacy legislation. 

Dr Shaw is an experienced industry trainer with an impressive client base including RMIT’s Industry Training Unit, the ASCPAs and the Ford Motor Company (evaluation).


Professor Maxwell Thompson

Professor Maxwell Thompson is a Reader at the School of Physics at Melbourne University and a recognised authority in the field of Photonuclear Reactions.  He regularly invited to be a guest speaker at international and Gordon Conferences and is an active and current collaborator at several accelerator laboratories of Nuclear Science including Tohoku University, Japan MAX lab, Lund University, Lund Sweden; Referee for Physical Review.  He has also published over 90 papers in refereed journals.

Sarah Lowe

Sarah is a Partner in the Financial Services audit practice of a Big 4 Accounting Firm. She has over 13 years experience in the provision of accounting and audit services, the majority of which has been devoted to the Banking and Finance sectors.  Sarah has also spent time in a Technical Accounting role where her specialisation was the interpretation and application of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) framework.  

Sarah has had four years experience in the overseas markets living in the United Kingdom and working with a number of international banks.  Her current clients include Financial Services forms within the ASX Top 100 as well as a number non-listed financial services clients.
