Dr Jon Kettle

PhD MPsych (Clinical) MAPS
Jon’s career has spanned working in public mental health, psychology training and research, and private practice. This has provided experience in a range of areas, including: outpatient treatment, crisis assessment and hospital admissions, triage, risk assessment, supervision of colleagues and students, complex case consultation to general practitioners, team leadership, clinic management and co-ordination, as well as conducting research into mental health, psychological treatment and psychologists’ training. He also teaches psychological treatment and psychopathology and regularly presents his work at psychotherapy seminars.

Approach

  • Recognise the unique nature of each person’s problems
  • Address what is troubling for each person in the context of his or her life experience
  • The length of therapy is tailored to what each person would like and what is effective, given the problem
  • Therapy can be used to produce a new way of thinking about one’s life and problems, which can produce a different way of relating to others and the world
