About Alex:

Alex (she/her) is an emerging counsellor with a focus on creating safer environments for people to share and explore their stories. Her work is informed through attachment theory, polyvagal theory and understanding how the nervous system shapes our experience. She focuses on providing a trauma-informed approach to counselling with the flexibility to meet the client where they are at.

Scope:

Alex provides safety to the LGBTQIA+ communities to explore their identities and sexualities through her experience as a queer and trans therapist. Her approach is always centering on the client with an intersectional framework and working with neurodivergent experiences, trauma and broadly to people experiencing harm under systems of power.

Background:

Alex is a transgender woman based on the unceded sovereign land and waters of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. She has been practising as a visual artist and musician for over 10 years. She currently also works as a peer worker in LGBTQIA+ mental health.

Approach:

At the heart of Alex's practise is the belief that everyone has in them the ingredients for living a better life and that a practitioner's relationship to this is to nurture a person into fruition of themselves. She honours this through embodied, person-centred approaches informed through existential modalities and narrative-based approaches while also understanding the inequity of the complex system that informs a persons wellbeing.
