This unit builds on the humanistic principles and person-centred therapy practice introduced in the CAP402 unit. It will look critically and practically at the theory and application of humanistic process-orients counselling, with the introduction of Focusing-Oriented Experiential Psychotherapy. This subject’s main objective is to develop students’ therapeutic presence further and enhance relational attunement, process awareness, experiential listening, and effective responding. In addition, the unit will explore the application of the Focusing process in clinical settings and review the research in the humanistic experiential therapy domain.
