The aim of this unit is to develop competence in culturally responsive conceptualisation, diagnosis and intervention in child and adolescent psychopathology. Students will acquire the clinical knowledge and skills necessary to assess, diagnose and treat childhood and youth mental disorders. A range of child and youth mental disorders will be addressed, including Attachment Disorder, Internalising and Externalising Disorders, Neurodevelopmental disorders (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and Early Psychosis. There will also be a series of lectures on working systemically (family therapy series) with children and families within this unit and discussion of other treatment modalities, including e-health approaches.
