The aim of this unit is to enhance students understanding of ethical standards related to assessment and intervention when working with children and families. Students will review duty of care, privacy, confidentiality, and other key responsibilities.  Child First standard policies will be explored, including mandatory reporting of maltreatment and neglect of children, and ethical dilemmas when working with children and vulnerable communities such as First Nation peoples and minority communities. Students are provided the opportunity and support to develop analysing skills, self-awareness, self-care, and the ability to recognise personal boundaries as critical components of professional practice and quality service.
