DESCRIPTION:ASIST – the world’s leading suicide intervention workshop!\nWe strive to create safer communities by providing training to increase awareness and prevent suicide. Our highly experienced\, registered trainers deliver the internationally recognised LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop to equip individuals to assist those at risk of suicide to keep safe and access further support. \n“It was excellent to practice having the conversation with someone at risk. It assisted in my confidence\, and language used to minimise the negative connotations to suicidality but emphasise their struggle.” \nSuitable for anyone above the age of 16\, anyone can learn the skills to intervene and save a life from suicide. We deliver suicide prevention training workshops to mental health and welfare organisations\, emergency services\, community groups\, corporate businesses\, and individuals. \nTraining is delivered over two consecutive days at our head office in Hawthorn East. SUMMARY:MHFA Refresher - February 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Standard MHFA Refresher Course is designed to help current Accredited MHFAiders maintain their certification and stay up to date with the latest mental health first aid knowledge\, skills\, and information. \nParticipants will engage in up-to-date research\, practice complex scenarios\, and extend their accreditation for another three years upon successful completion of a short assessment. \n\n  \n\nLearning Objectives\n\n\nThis internationally recognised workshop is evidence based and informed by lived experience. Participants will:  \n\n\nUnderstand the latest research in mental health\,\nNavigate complex mental health first aid scenarios\,\nPractice and enhance mental health first aid skills\, discuss challenges\, and share knowledge.\n\n  \nEligibility\nTo enrol in the Refresher Course\, participants must have completed a full MHFA course and passed the accreditation assessment within the last three years. The Standard Refresher course is available to current and accredited MHFAiders who completed the following courses: \n\nStandard MHFA\nOlder Person MHFA\nBlended/Online Community or Workplace\nFinancial Services\, Legal Professionals or Pharmacy MHFA\nTertiary\n\nParticipants are required to bring their own Fourth Edition manual and need to provide a copy of their Certificate of Accreditation to our team prior to the training. You can access a copy via your Mental Health First Aid Account and email it to pd@cairnmillar.org.au \nParticipants who have last attended a Refresher Course will need to attend a full course as per the accreditation pathway. \n\n  \n\nOur Trainer\nDr Renzo Vittorino\n\n\n\nRenzo is the Course Director of the Graduate Internship Program at The Cairnmillar Institute. Renzo has extensive leadership and clinical experience spanning over 30 years. He has experience in working with individual and families\, community\, and organisational development. SUMMARY:Supervisor Master Class - March 2026\, Western Australia
DESCRIPTION:Following many years of successful provision of supervision and supervision training – we are now able to offer free Master Class refresher training for registered psychologists until 2026. \nThis funding is provided by the Australian Federal Government\, Department of Health and Aged Care in-line with meeting the aims to support and increase the capacity of the psychology workforce.  Priority places will be given to psychologists supporting First Nations people\, children and youth\, those from CALD communities\, and practitioners working in community mental health settings or regional\, rural\, and remote areas (located in MMM3-7).  \nSupervisors who successfully complete the training\, will be invited to complete a quick post-training survey allowing us to gather workforce data on our funded training initiatives. Completion of this survey will receive a VISA gift card of $200. \n\nAbout The Training\nThis is a one-day workshop suitable for Psychology Board of Australia-approved supervisors wishing to maintain their supervisor status\, and seeking to update their supervisor skills. It is delivered in collaboration with STREAM Psychology. All relevant course information and details about training will be provided from Stream Psychology. \nSuitable for those providing peer supervision to qualified psychologists and other mental health professionals and Higher Degree psychology students\, this workshop will be delivered by an experienced trainer and will provide supervisors with an opportunity to reflect on their current practice and broaden their knowledge\, skill and training in the area of supervision.  \nThis Master class workshop is a cutting edge evidence based relational interactive workshop aimed at delivering experiential learning based on 4 key principles:  \n\nCompetence Based Supervision\nReflective Practice\nOutcomes-Based Supervision\nDeliberate and Purposeful Practice\n\nThe workshop will include experiential exercises and involve a competency-based assessment. This course constitutes 7 hours of CPD. \nAll psychologists wishing to undertake this BAS training must meet the eligibility criteria for PsyBA approval. \n  \nCourse Outline\n\nCompetency based approach to supervision.\nIntegrating reflective practice with competency based supervision.\nIntegrating deliberate practice with competency based supervision\nEvaluating supervisees via core competencies.\nEvaluating supervisees via monitoring client outcomes.\nEmerging new digital platforms to monitor therapeutic outcomes.\nUpdates on recent changes to guidelines\, forms pathways and exam information.\nAdvanced Masterclass workshop systematic assessment.\n\n  \nLearning Objectives\n\nAn increased understanding of competency based supervision concepts.\nAn increased understanding of Outcome Based supervision tools and new digital technologies.\nExperience in reflective\, deliberate and purposeful practice.\nExperiential learning through supportive exercises and discussions.\nAssessed as competent upon successful completion of the Masterclass.\nEligibility to continue practising as a board approved supervisor (BAS).\n\nOnce you have successfully completed a Board approved refresher training program you can apply to maintain your approval for another five years from the date you completed the training using form MBAS-76. You must complete the refresher training and lodge your MBAS-76 form with AHPRA before the expiry date of your current approval; otherwise your approval will lapse. \n  \nOur Trainer\nTrainer/Author – Duane Smith\nDuane is a registered Counselling and Clinical Psychologist and PsyBA board approved supervisor and trainer who has been practicing for over 35 years in Western Australia. Duane also has a passion for supervision and specializes in reflective and deliberate practice principles with all his supervisees. \nDuane has been supervising 4+2\, 5+1\, Curtin University Counselling Psychology Masters program placement students and Area of Practice Endorsement (Counselling and Clinical Psychologists) for over 20 years. Duane is a fellow with the APS College of Counselling Psychology and is the current Executive Chair of the Association of Counselling Psychologists.  \nDuane has also been in private practice for over 35 years supporting adolescent\, adult\, couple and family clients with a variety of complex life issues and moderate to severe mental health presentations including complex co-morbidity and psychopathology. \nDuane is currently the Clinical Director/Owner of The Henry Street Centre in Fremantle and STREAM Psychology and provides psychological services\, staff supervision\, specialized training and clinical consultation to many agencies in WA including Youth Focus\, St Johns Horizon House\, CPFS\, WANSLEA Family Service\, PICYS\, St Johns Ambulance (WA)\, Mission Australia and Headspace.  \nDuane has collaboratively developed the PsyBA approved training workshops with Dr Daryl Chow (Phd) and has a passion for AI and digital applications and client centred feedback informed treatment. \n  \nImportant Information\n \nThis workshop is subject to receiving a minimum number of enrolments.
