Treatment Approaches

Elise is client-centered and strengths based in her therapeutic approach and makes use of a mindful and neuro-biology based framework that is solution focused and requires creative intuitiveness within evidence-based theories such as CBT, ACT and Polyvagal Theory. Within the Sleep Psychology Clinic, Elise uses evidence based cognitive, mindful and behavioural approaches in an integrated manner. Elise is largely drawn to a “bottom- up” neural behavioural understanding of the development of self and uses this as a framework for positively influencing understanding about change and wellbeing.

About

Elise is a Clinical Psychologist with a background in Health and Sleep Psychology and works with clients in a person-centered way which means that she draws on the most appropriate evidence-based intervention suited to the moment. Elise aims to develop warm and therapeutic rapport with her clients and believes that it is a privilege to be invited to be part of someone’s inner world. Elise has a passion for optimizing thriving, personal growth and developing strengths in others. Elise is particularly interested in the field of sleep, mindfulness, emotional and mood regulation, neuroscience and general wellbeing.

Elise has a passion for sleep psychology, mindfulness and wellbeing. Elise works with adolescents, parents and adults. Elise is the Director of Clinical Services for The Cairnmillar Institute and is dedicated to the integration of research and teaching being put into practice throughout our clinics. Elise also directs the Sleep Psychology Clinic at Cairnmillar and runs practical skill training in Mindfulness for everyday life and better sleep. Elise has life skills relating to business, migration, neurodiversity, chronic health and trauma. She has a strong background in working with behaviour change, management of chronic conditions, organisational consulting and providing training in areas relating to positively influencing others, effective communication, sleep psychology, mindfulness in action and topics related to helping others thrive.
