Clinical Expertise

  • Experienced and versatile senior clinician with extensive experience in mental health service assessment and treatment across the age range, capacity to provide specialist consultation services supporting people with a mental illness, including dual diagnosis complexities. Capacity to work with evidence-based interventions with adults and with children, young people and families. Capacity to work with chronic health conditions including from point of diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.
  • Extensive experience supervising psychologists at all developmental levels, supervision cross disciplines, and supervision of professionals across sectors such as health, community services and education.
  • Provision of education and training at a postgraduate level; provision of industry-relevant training including psychiatric risk assessment and management.
  • Mental Health Assessments with a focus on complex or emerging issues (high and low prevalence), capacity to manage risk, and engage systems for care across primary care and acute health.
  • Capacity to deliver tailored training packages to a wide variety of audiences from corporate and public sector departments, the community sector, carers and consumers, and mental health professional peers.

About

Mandy Taylor is a Clinical Psychologist with more than 20 years’ experience working with adults, and with children, young people and their families. She enjoys working collaboratively with people of all ages, backgrounds, and orientation. Her therapeutic style includes cognitive behavioural strategies, solution-focused therapy, and resilience and acceptance approaches.

Mandy joined Cairnmillar Institute in 2017, and has enjoyed various roles including supervision, training, and client care. Mandy completed her Masters of Clinical Psychology in Hobart and over the course of 20 years has worked in public mental health in Tasmania, Western Australia, and Victoria. Mandy’s work in public services has included CAMHS/CYMHS roles supporting children, young people, and families, and working with adults presenting with complex mental illness. Working at Cairnmillar, Mandy enjoys working with clients presenting with all kinds of issues, from low mood, anxiety and relationship issues, through to work stress or life-stage transitions. She is a creative and collaborative clinician who tailors care to the person’s need.

In education roles, she has enjoyed training and supporting early career colleagues including psychiatry registrars, General Practitioners, and multidisciplinary colleagues. Mandy is a registered psychology supervisor and has delivered industry training across the education and health sectors, and at a postgraduate tertiary level in the areas of eating disorders, CBT, working with children and their families, psychopathology, and evidence-informed psychological interventions.

Mandy has held executive roles, provided industry supervision for executive and management staff. She is a board approved supervisor and provides supervision for new and emerging psychologists, clinical psychology registrars, and experienced peers.
