In addition to welcoming clients experiencing a broad range of emotional and experiential issues, she offers specialisation in:
– Navigating identity and discrimination
– Relationship and interpersonal issues
– Support with chronic illness or pain
– Sexuality and intimacy concerns
– LGBTQIA+ affirming care

Treatment Approaches

Tessa works with adults (18+) across a broad range of life difficulties, and aims to meet each person where they are. Tessa draws on a broad range of evidence-based interventions, including:
– Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and
– Focusing Oriented Therapy (FOT)
Tessa blends these interventions with her continual commitment to decolonial, feminist and queer theories to hold respect for the unique cross-section of experience each person brings in terms of their culture, gender, sexuality, neurotype and ability. Tessa’s client-centred, trauma-informed, intersectional approach allows her to to adapt her work to support each client’s unique aims for therapy.

Tessa Caramia is a student at The Cairnmillar Institute, currently completing her Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Tessa has worked in peer mental health support, lived-experience advocacy, professional development and direct-delivery of educational programs to both young people and adults alike.
