Centre for Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion Research

The Centre for Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion Research focuses on research that promotes holistic health and wellbeing across diverse communities and life stages. It addresses public health and social inclusion challenges, aligning with national priorities on health equity and mental health promotion.

Key Research Priorities

  • Health Behaviours in Chronic Conditions Examining how people manage and maintain health when living with chronic illnesses, and developing interventions to support positive health behaviours and self-management.
  • Inclusive and Diverse Communities Research into the needs of diverse, under-served, and marginalised communities, aiming to reduce inequalities and improve access to mental health and wellbeing services.
  • Child, Youth and Family Wellbeing Studying factors that impact the wellbeing of children, adolescents, and families, and designing programs to support healthy development and family functioning.
  • Workplace Mental Health Investigating mental health in workplace settings, including interventions for stress, burnout prevention, and strategies to foster healthy, productive work environments.

Research Groups

Condom Use Resistance (Jonathan Mason Lab)

We are a group of research, clinical, health and counselling psychologists interested in condom use resistance. Our research explores the way people negotiate condom use with each other, the use of coercive and non-coercive condom use resistance tactics, and the cognitive, personality and psychosocial correlates of condom use resistance behaviour.

This Lab is led by Prof. Jonathan Mason

Living with Diabetes (Steven Trawley Lab)

We are a multidisciplinary team of behavioural scientists and clinical researchers focused on the psychosocial complexities of living with diabetes. Our research explores the intersection of technology and daily life, specifically how advanced systems like continuous glucose monitoring and automated insulin delivery impact psychological well-being, treatment burden, and safety.

This Lab is led by A/Prof. Steven Trawley
