Individual Counselling

At the Cairnmillar Clinics, we offer psychological and counselling services to adults with a variety of presentations. We have clinicians who have special interests in a range of therapeutic approaches, covering a variety of areas and client groups. We believe it is important to match clients with clinicians and their areas of interest and find that this provides the best outcomes.

Some of the therapeutic modalities available are:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Psychodynamic Therapy/approach
  • Schema Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness-based Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Person-Centered Therapy
  • Focused Therapy

A list of areas that our clinicians can help you with can be found on our Clinic page.

Services with registered clinicians can be accessed for a fee at our Dandenong, Hawthorn East and North Melbourne locations. See our Fees & Rebates page for more information.

Free counselling with student clinicians under supervision can be accessed through our Community Clinics, which operate at all of our locations. Please see our Community Clinic page for more details.

Standard individual counselling sessions run for 50 minutes. This includes a client's initial appointment.

For client's accessing counselling support through our Community Clinic the first appointment will be a 30-minute intake phone call. 50-minute sessions can be booked thereafter.

Please visit the Our Clinicians page for a full list of practitioners at our four clinics, including student clinicians as part of the Cairnmillar Community Clinic.
