1. Purpose of this Policy
The purpose of this policy is to document that the Council of the Cairnmillar Institute is delegated to authorise and require the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to develop and implement a COVIDSafe Plan.
2. Scope
The COVIDSafe plan developed by the CEO applies to all workers (including staff, independent practitioners, contractors, honorary appointments, advisers, students, Academic Board members, Council members, construction workers, and volunteers) who are required to attend the Cairnmillar Institute.
3. Policy
3.1. Authority to CEO
The CEO is authorised and required to develop and implement a COVIDSafe Plan which:
- Follows Public Health Directions and advice.
- Conforms with WorkSafe requirements.
- Addresses matters raised by Cairnmillar’s Insurer.
- Is regularly updated.
3.2. COVIDSafe Plan
Without prescribing the detail of the COVIDSafe Plan, the Plan will set out areas that:
- Define who may enter Cairnmillar facilities and the conditions of admittance.
- Implement symptom screening and possible testing of those entering Cairnmillar facilities.
- Implement density quotients and physical distancing measures.
- Implement QR coding and COVID record keeping.
- Provide necessary PPE, cleaning and other necessary resources (e.g., hand sanitizer).
- Provide COVID Safe ventilation and air purification where practicable.
- Provide training and education for workers.
- Develop procedures for the management of COVID positive workers.
3.3. Communication of the COVIDSafe Plan
The CEO is responsible for communicating the COVIDSafe Plan and any subsequent changes to the Plan via email to all workers.
3.4. Briefing of the Institute’s COVID-19 management
The CEO is required to brief the Cairnmillar Institute Council on COVID-19 management at each Council meeting.
3.5. Breach of this policy
Any worker, excluding students, who is found to have breached the COVIDSafe Plan may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including the termination of employment or engagement.
Any student who is found to have breached the COVIDSafe Plan may be subject to disciplinary action including the termination of their enrolment if they cannot meet the inherent requirements of their course of study.
3.6. Variations
The CEO may vary or replace the COVIDSafe Plan at any time in line with the evolving nature of COVID-19 and Public Health Directions.
3.7. Annual review
The COVIDSafe Plan is to be reviewed annually by the CEO.
