Position Purpose
Teaching Assistants (TA) with higher degrees, such as a Master’s degree in a relevant field, may be contracted to teach into, or provide marking for, units at an AQF level equivalent to their relevant higher degree.
Key Responsibilities
Support | Support senior staff in the delivery of lecturers and tutorials, both online and on campus |
Teaching and Learning | Conduct tutorials and seminars
Consultation with students Marking and provision of feedback to students Participation in moderation |
Administration | Limited administrative activities in area in which they teach |
Service | Attendance at Faculty, Course and Discipline meetings as required |
Key Selection Criteria
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to work within a team and independently
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- Experience in teaching desirable but not essential
- Familiarity with Cairnmillar policies, systems and processes desirable but not essential
Qualifications, Registrations and Memberships
- Current fulltime enrolment in good standing in the PhD course
- Adequate progress on the thesis, as confirmed by the Principal Supervisor, such that the expectations of the assistantship will not interfere with progress to PhD completion

Other requirements
The successful applicant will need to have unrestricted right to work in Australia, a valid Working with Children Check and Police Check.
