The Circle of Security® Parenting™

The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is an evidence-based program that helps parents and caregivers better understand their child’s emotional needs, develop relationships based on secure attachment and build lifelong resilience in young children.

In this eight-week program, parents and carers of children aged 0 to 8 years will have the opportunity to learn and discuss:

  • Understanding your child's needs through the lens of connection and security
  • Responding to your child's needs with warmth, empathy, and clear boundaries
  • Supporting your child's ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Building your child's self-esteem and sense of security for the future

Who is it for? 

This program is for all parents and carers. Carers and Parents with children under eight usually find the resources most suitable to them. Circle of Security Parenting can help parents and carers with children who are having behavioural or emotional difficulties.

When will it be held?

The next COS-P group will run weekly from July 21 to September 8, 2026 (for eight weeks).

The group will be conducted online although in person sessions will also be considered depending on interest.

Please note: All courses run subject to sufficient enrolments. We run these groups throughout the year therefore the best option is to contact us to discuss available dates and time.

How much does it cost?

$30 per session ($240 total). If you have private healthcare that covers psychology, you may be able to claim a rebate. NDIS plans may be used if they are relevant to goals.

Please note Medicare rebates do not apply to this program.

bringing up great kids

Bringing Up Great Kids is a six week program developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation. It has been evaluated and found to be an effective program in supporting the development of mindful and positive relationships between parents/carers and children.

It focuses on building positive and nurturing relationships between parents and their children. The program aims to support parents to review and enhance their patterns of communication with their children, to promote more respectful interactions and encourage the development of children’s positive self-identity.

Who is it for?

This program is designed for parents of children aged 0-12.

Parents who have done this program report more positive interactions with their children, less conflict and calmer family environments.

When will it be held?

Bringing Up Great Kids will run weekly for six weeks, starting Wednesday 2 August 2023. The group will be held in-person at our Hawthorn East clinic.

The time of the group will be either 9:30am to 11:30am OR 1pm to 3pm, depending on the majority of participant's preferences.

How much does it cost? 

$30 per session ($180 total), or bulk-billed with a valid Mental Healthcare Plan from a GP.

You must enrol and pay for all six sessions at the outset.
